Trout River – Overfalls

This is a wilderness hiking route providing views of the 150 m high Overfalls waterfall and the Tablelands. Following the banks of Trout River and Overfalls Brook, you also enjoy views of gentle streams, turbulent rapids, cascading waterfalls, and large deep pools – where one can take a refreshing dip.

Trail Notes:

  • The route starts at the eastern end of Trout River Pond and is only accessible by boat. Check out water taxi options with Wild Gros Morne.
  • The route is part of the International Appalachian Trail and is a wilderness route not maintained by Parks Canada. Expect minimal trail infrastructure, maintenance, and wayfinding signage.
  • The route crosses Trout River, hikers need to be able and prepared to ford the river.
